Easy method of cooking of Family Spaghetti with Turkey Meatballs


Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes

1 package (450 g) lean ground turkey
45 ml (3 tbsp.) Breadcrumbs seasoned whole wheat
90 ml (6 tbsp.) Grated fresh Parmesan cheese, divided
30 ml (2 tbsp.) Fresh parsley, chopped
1 mL (1/4 tsp.) Freshly ground pepper
1 can (796 ml / 28 oz) tomato puree no added salt
1 grated carrot
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 stalks of fresh basil
1 mL (1/4 tsp.) Hot pepper flakes
1 package (375 g) whole wheat spaghetti
In a large bowl, combine the turkey, breadcrumbs, 45 mL (3 tbsp.) Cheese, parsley and pepper. Shape into balls using a spoon to measure 15 mL (1 tbsp.) And then place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Makes 24 meatballs. Place in preheated oven at 180˚C (350˚F) for 10 minutes *. Remove from oven.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan, simmer tomatoes, carrot, onion, garlic, basil and hot pepper flakes. Add meatballs; partially cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until sauce thickens.
In a pot of boiling water, cook the spaghetti for 10 minutes or until tender but firm. Drain and return the pasta to the pan. Add sauce and mix well. Serve and garnish with remaining cheese.
* Use a digital food thermometer to check for doneness dumplings: the internal temperature should reach 74C (165F).
