how to cook easy Drumsticks
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 35 minutes
5 ml (1 tsp.) Of canola oil
1 chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
15 ml (1 tbsp.) Chopped fresh thyme
10 ml (2 tsp.) Chili powder
1 ml (1/4 tsp.) Freshly ground pepper
500 ml (2 cups) Passata (tomato sauce)
175 ml (3/4 cup) chopped pitted dates Medjool
60 ml (1/4 cup) cider vinegar
15 ml (1 tbsp.) Worcestershire sauce
5 ml (1 tsp.) Of hot sauce
10 chicken drumsticks without skin (about 1 kg / 2 lbs)
In a saucepan, heat oil over medium heat and cook onion, garlic, thyme, chili powder and pepper for 3 minutes or until softened. Stir in tomato sauce, dates, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Pour into a blender and puree until smooth. Makes about 625 ml (2 1/2 cups) sauce.
Place drumsticks on greased grill and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Turn and grill for 5 minutes. Brush the drumsticks with about 250 ml (1 cup) of sauce and cook, turning often and brushing them, for about 10 more minutes Footnote page *.
If desired, serve with a little remaining sauce. Cover and keep the rest of the sauce in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks.
